EMDR Therapy
Heal from trauma without reliving it.
If you have been through any sort of traumatic event, the idea of reliving it in therapy can sound daunting. The idea of EMDR is that you revisit the experiences without reliving it. One foot in the present, one foot in the memory. This might sound terrible to have even one toe near that memory. If you are on this page that likely means you know that memory has become problematic for you in some way. The only way to move past those memories is to address them. EMDR is an incredibly effective and safe way to do so. You don't forget the memory, it's not a magic potion or anything, but I like to say the goal is to make the edges of the memory less rough. It won't hold as much emotion or pain once it's been processed with EMDR.
EMDR is a powerful, evidence-based therapy designed to help the brain reprocess traumatic memories, emotional pain, and self-limiting beliefs. It’s especially effective for people who feel “stuck” in the aftermath of significant events.
You don’t need to relive every detail of your past to heal from it. EMDR helps you move forward—without retraumatization.
EMDR has been extensively researched for the last 40 years. If you are interested in reading some of that research or learning more, please visit:
